Letter From Emily: Where I’ve Been and Why I’ve Been There

Oi! Let me explain! I haven’t been blogging as much as I’d like to be blogging, but can I tell you why? This post, accompanied by beautiful photography of course, will be my explanation. Not just an explanation for why I’ve been gone, but for where I’ve been, why I’ve been there, and what I’m going to be doing with the future of my blog and brand.

Where I’ve Been

School, work, other work, and occasionally sleeping.

I’m currently a full time student, studying to receive my associates degree in Graphic Design. I’m also working full time as a graphic designer as well as a part-time marketing intern. ALL WHILE freelancing on the side and photographing along the way. Yes, I wanted this for myself and yes, I love being busy. Everyone’s always asking me why I would take on so much, and the answer is simple. “Why give away a good opportunity.” Active schedules keeps my creative juices flowing, and as weird as that sounds- it is true. The second I stop doing what I love, to “relax,” is the day I gave up on my dream.

I live the dream every day by being able to do the things I love (and be compensated for it.)

Now listen, I am NOT against vacation time. But what’s a vacation without photos? My work follows me everywhere I go and I wouldn’t want it any other way. At the moment my priorities are on school and my work, but once I’ve graduated I’m hoping to make blogging more than just a “hobby.” (I’ll be the first to tell you that when I want something I get it, so you can bet on that hope of mine).

Why I Was There

It’s my last semester before receiving my associates degree, and I wanted to make it count.

Unfortunately, there’s not enough time in the day to allow me the creative freedom I desire. School and work have been a major factor for my absence in blogging. I have been working on a bunch of projects for my classes, some of which I will be sharing in posts to come (one of them being a project I’ve been dying to share with you all!) I’ve been able to keep up with most of you all on my Instagram and I try to post every day so that I’m not completely quiet. By the end of May (after I graduate) this blog WILL be back on track with consistent posts. I’d also like to mention here that I WILL be going back to school come August, on track for a BFA in Graphic Design. I’m beyond excited!!

After working my butt off, I had applied and was later accepted into a bachelors degree program at another school.

The main reason for my absence is simply this: I was focusing on my grades in school, so that I was able to move onto the next step for my education. I love learning new things, and school allows me to meet people that think like me. Although some parts of education I will never understand, my college experience has been one of the better experiences of my entire education overall. I’ve met really great people through the two years I’ve spent at Suffolk County Community College, but I’m definitely ready for some new challenges. I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to post as frequently as I had hoped & liked, but I wasn’t looking to post trash content, just to get a post up. Follow me on Instagram or Twitter, I make a lot of noise around 2am over there! 🙂

What It All Means For My Blog

The blog will go on, and expand.

We are growing. What all of the above means is that my brand is growing, and with that my blog and design work does too. Graphic Design and Photography are two huge pieces of my life, and I want to continue blogging my experiences about them. I want to share with you what has been going on in my life not for excuses, but to allow you to sort of learn from me. If any part of this inspired you just a little, I’ve done my job. My goal is to inspire those to create, and to maybe help you skip most of the mistakes I’ve made in the process… Mistakes aren’t bad though! Sometimes..

Everyone will be able to get something out of it, learning from me and with me.

For the future of me and my blog, you can expect more design processes and photography, as well as showcasing other creative brands with the use of my skills. I also want to expand onto YouTube, and visually allow you to learn with step-by-step tutorials hosted by yours truly. You will learn more from this blog, as will I- and I’m excited to be doing it here, with you.

Happy Tuesday, as you’re reading this I will be taking a test on asteroids and meteors.. Hope your day is going better than mine! LOL!  If you have any questions, concerns, or just want to say hi- feel free too by emailing me at mynameis@emilynncaulfield.com! (or you can comment below) 😉
